JOI BAILEY INK
MORE THAN JUST A TATTOO
Joi brings over four years of experience, passion, and precision to your tattoo experience. Whether it's your first or 50th tattoo, Joi will work with you to transpose your vision from the imagination to a lasting design.
Joi has worked in tattoo shops in Denton, Dallas, and New York City. She apprenticed at Dark Age Tattoo Studio and is currently tattooing at Third Eye Study in Dallas.
Joi is well-versed in both black & grey and color realism. She draws inspiration from figure drawing and composition courses taken at University of Texas in Dallas to replicate 3-D images on skin. During her apprenticeship at Dark Age Tattoo Studio in Denton, she was mentored by nationally-recognized masters in the genre.
Joi’s interest in sacred geometry was first piqued when studying iconography in art. Today, she uses shapes and patterns found in nature and combines them with pagan, spiritual, and religious symbols to create a cohesive mosaic. These balanced pieces often translate well to sleeves, back/chest pieces, or as self-contained tattoos. Joi can work directly from images that inspire you or create an image based on your vision.
Using bold colors and thematic design, Joi’s neo-traditional portfolio is very similar in style to the works of the Art Noveau movement. With intricate details of lush florals and nature scenes, these tattoos include more varied line work and a broader color palette while paying homage to classic tattoo themes and subjects.
Joi was born and raised in Texas and has lived in DFW her whole life. In 2014, she started her apprenticeship with Dark Age Tattoo Studio in Denton and completed her apprenticeship in 2018. She moved to Dallas to join the team at the newly-formed Sinners Tattoo Studio in 2019 and later relocated to Third Eye Gallery, a private studio and fine art gallery.
Joi has also worked as a guest artist in NYC and is currently available for brief guest spots of 1-2 weeks. Her work as a tattoo artist has been featured in profiles with Voyage Dallas and Inked Magazine.
